ARTS & MEDICINE
Beata Maria began her exploration of the intersection between art and medicine at Goldsmiths University in 2010. She partnered with Manabu Shimada to create the installation "Catharsis," which integrated elements of art, animation, sonic art, and biomedical science.
In 2012, she teamed up with Fabrizio Smeraldi to promote the healing potential of art and raise awareness about heart health. This remarkable partnership has thrived over the years, blending art, medical science, and computer science. Their captivating installations have been featured in esteemed exhibitions and science festivals, including notable collaborations with Queen Mary University of London and charitable endeavors with Guy's and St Thomas' Charity. Visitors to exhibitions in London’s Notting Hill, Waterloo, and Piccadilly Circus have been captivated by the duo's innovative mix of interactivity and artistic expression. One of their installations received a review from The Pharmaceutical Journal, published by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
In 2024, “Lucid Dreams” was unveiled, created exclusively for the Personal Structures exhibition organized by ECC Italy at the renowned Palazzo Bembo in Venice, coinciding with La Biennale di Venezia. In this exciting project, Beata Maria and Fabrizio collaborated with Melissa Budasz, known as Masked Sphinx. Melissa's vast experience as an artist, curator and writer, outlined by her remarkable achievements in the art world, added a unique touch to the project. She has generously contributed several paintings from her series "Arousal of the Kundalini," which feature snake-like forms and skeletons intertwined with body parts and organs, all of which have been beautifully incorporated into an extraordinary animation.
Beata Maria is currently focused on a project aimed at increasing awareness of osteoporosis, particularly among women, while continuing her research in the intersection of arts and medicine.
